Police make direct appeal to missing girls, 14 and 15, to get in touch as frantic families fear for their safety

POLICE have directly appealed to two missing teenage girls on social media imploring them to get in touch with their worried families.

Ruby Cuskern, 14, and Megan Hardwick, 15, from Stockton were last seen on a field in the Eastbourne area of the town at around 6.15pm last night.

They haven't returned home or made contact with their families since.

Cleveland Police have had numerous calls reporting sightings, but none have been verified.

Now, cops have taken to Twitter to send a direct appeal to the teens as their loved ones become frantic with fear for their safety.

"A message from officers trying to find missing Ruby and Megan: Girls, please ring Cleveland Police on 101 just to let us know you're safe and well," Cleveland Police tweeted.

"Everyone's worried about you. You're not in any trouble, we just need to know you're ok!"

It is thought the pair could have been travelling about on public transport and could have taken a bus to Middlesbrough.

Ruby has been described as white with fake tan, 5ft tall with long brown hair and wears brown framed glasses.

She was last seen wearing a cream body warmer with black leather trousers.

Megan is also white and 5ft4 tall with long, straight, dark brown hair.

The teen was last seen wearing a dark blue and cream striped jumper, black leather look trousers and knee-high boots.

Police have also asked for parents and carers of youngsters who know Ruby and Megan to ask if they know where they are or if they've seen them.

Anyone with information is urged to call Cleveland Police as soon as possible on 101.
