Police have closed two major roads in separate parts of the county following two smashes.

The first closure was put in place on the Bay Gateway in Morecambe, in both directions between Slyne Road and juction 34 of the M6.

Police are asking people to find alternative routes while they deal with the incident.

A force spokesperson said: "We have closed the Bay Gateway in both directions between Slyne Road and Junction 34 of the M6 due to a road traffic collision.

"Please seek alternative routes and avoid the area to assist emergency vehicles attending.

"We will provide an update once the road is reopen."

Over in Cleveleys, officers closed Amounderness Way between the Eros roundabout and Bourne Way following a separate crash.

Traffic travelling towards Cleveleys has been affected while traffic heading towards Fleetwood is moving slower than normal.

The spokesperson added: "Amounderness Way is currently closed between Eros roundabout and Bourne Way heading towards Cleveleys following a road traffic collision.

"Traffic is still moving towards Fleetwood however will be slower than normal.

"Please avoid the area if possible and we will reopen the road as soon as possible."

It is not yet known whether anyone is injured as a result of the incidents.
