Piers Morgan has once again took to Twitter to tease former rival Dan Walker.

And Piers couldn't resist a little dig yet again after Dan left Strictly Come Dancing at the weekend.

Despite being favourite to leave the show for several weeks, Dan continued to defy the odds and stay in the competition before finally receiving his marching orders on Sunday.

He narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals of the contest after being voted off following a dance-off with AJ Odudu.

But he was quick to praise pro partner Nadiya Bychkova and express his gratitude at appearing on the show.

He shared a video from the BBC's Twitter account of the moment he left the show and commented: "Well… what a ride!

"#Strictly has been a truly wonderful experience for me. I enjoyed every second. @NadiyaBychkova is a superstar: kind, encouraging, funny, clever, the best teacher I could ever have hoped for & a great friend.

"Thanks for the support & thanks for having us."

While fans and famous faces, including former Strictly dancer James Jordan, congratulated the star on his performances, Piers wasn't about to let him have his moment and quote tweeted Dan's post.

He replied: "You came 5th, mate. She needed a better pupil."

His response wasn't exactly well received though with many fans criticising the outspoken star's choice of words.

One user wrote: "Absolutely no need for this tweet."

Another was of the same opinion and said: "Unnecessary comment, shame people are like this. I guess it’s the world we live in."

A third called for Piers to appear on a future edition of the contest, saying: "Instead of criticising what has been an excellent journey of zero dance experience to being able to dance, why don’t you put yourself up for it next year and see if you can do any better?"

In another tweet, he wrote: "The End. But as Sinatra said: "The best is yet to come, and won't that be fine?" See you in 2022 with my new global daily show."

His candid chat with Kate Garraway left some fans in tears as his former co-host opened up about her life and the condition of husband Derek Draper.

Derek contracted Covid-19 in early 2020 and went on to be hospitalised for 13 months, making him the worst living Covid patient in the UK.

He has since returned home but struggles to communicate after the virus ravaged his body - including his brain - and requires round-the-clock care.
