Piers Morgan looks totally unrecognisable in throwback photo as a teenage reporter in the 1980s

PIERS Morgan has delighted fans by sharing a photograph taken when he was 18 years old.

Piers, 55, was working as a trainee newspaper reporter at the time and had been tasked with interviewing cricket legend Geoffrey Boycott, now 79.

The Good Morning Britain star is clutching his notepad and pen in the fading snap and is dressed in a shirt and a smart knitted jumper.

Geoffrey, who was knighted last year, is all smiles in the photo and has placed a friendly hand on Piers' shoulder.

Sharing the picture with his followers on Instagram, Piers said: "Just stumbled across this in my archives... me with the great ⁦Geoffrey Boycott‬⁩ when I was an 18yr-old trainee reporter trying to get a scoop.

"He couldn’t have been more friendly & helpful."

Piers' one million followers were quick to comment, but many jested that he looked older than 18.

One wrote: "18 years old!!!! That must have been a tough paper round😂."

Another added: "18?! You look about 40 😂😂."

A third teased: "You look about 35?"

Luckily for Piers, there were plenty of compliments too.

"Looked good when you were young, even better now.👍👍👍," one of his followers said.

Another fan told the dad-of-four: "You were a real tasty geezer Mr. Morgan 💕"

In his newspaper days, Piers became the youngest person ever to edit a tabloid. He was put at the helm of the News Of The World aged 29.

These days, Piers is best known for co-hosting ITV1's Good Morning Britain with Susanna Reid. But his outspoken nature often lands him in hot water.

Earlier this week, The Sun Online revealed Piers has been hit with 16 complaints to the television watchdog Ofcom after tearing into Housing Minister Robert Jenrick.

Piers lost his temper last week as he demanded to know why more people in the UK couldn't get tested for the deadly coronavirus.
