A person has been hit by a train between Stirling and Croy.

ScotRail shared the sad news on their official Twitter account on Sunday.

The tweet warned passengers that the line is currently closed to deal with the incident.

Some services have been suspended

Emergency services are on their way to the scene.

The line closure will affect services between Glasgow Queen Street and Stirling, Alloa, Perth, Dundee, Inverness and Aberdeen.

Trains running between Edinburgh and Dunblane have also been suspended.

The message from ScotRail read: "Sadly, we've had reports of a person being hit by a train between Stirling and Croy.

"The line is currently closed.

"The emergency services are on their way to the scene.

"This will affect all services between Glasgow Queen Street and Stirling, Alloa, Perth, Dundee, Inverness and Aberdeen.

"We've also had to suspend our Edinburgh to Dunblane services for just now."

British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
