Police are at the scene of an 'ongoing incident' in Inverclyde.

Officers raced to Mackie Avenue in Port Glasgow on Sunday afternoon.

The alarm was raised at 3.30pm.

Cops were still at the scene as of 9pm on Sunday.

Police said that the incident is 'ongoing' and that an investigation is underway.

The circumstances surrounding the incident could not be disclosed at this time.

A spokesman told the Record: "Police remain on the scene at Mackie avenue, Port Glasgow amid an ongoing incident.

"Police were called there at 3.30pm on Sunday.

"Enquiries are ongoing.

"No further information is available at this time."
