One million free child places available with Jet2 as airline announces latest expansion plans

Budget airline Jet2 has announced it is offering one million free child places, giving families the chance to save money on their next holiday when the little ones go for free.

It comes as part of the tour operator's latest plans to expand its Summer 22 holiday programme to cope with demand for oversea breaks for May half-term, summer and beyond to popular hotspots abroad.

A statement on the Jet2holidays website reads: "Get more for your money on your next family holiday when the little ones go free! That’s right, we offer Free Child Places for our award-winning package holidays to give you even more value. We’ve got one million available for Summer 2022! Not only that, we've made sure our most popular hotels have Free Child Places up for grabs too. They do sell out super-fast though, so you'd better snap one up soon – once they’re gone, they’re gone."

As with most free kids' place deals, it's one free child travelling for every two adults travelling. For the offer, the terms and conditions state the child will receive for free the flight (including taxes), one piece of checked-in luggage, in-resort coach transfer and a bed in the selected accommodation. Extras such as inflight meals and extra legroom seats will be charged at the standard rate. Some Jet2 villa holidays are also included within the promotion, and as such, the offer is limited to one free child per villa.

For holidays with a deposit option, the free child space will be charged the applicable deposit rate (the same as the adults), however, at the time of paying the final balance, the free child deposit will be deducted from the final balance of the holiday. If the holiday is cancelled by yourself, there is a £60 charge payable for the child, in addition to any standard cancellation charges.

Jet2 has also confirmed it has added extra flights and holidays for many destinations, such as Mainland Spain, the Canaries, the Balearics, Turkey and Portugal (Faro) from across its 10 UK bases, reports HullLive.

To keep up with passenger demand, it's Summer 2023 capacity is set to be increased from three key airports, while more hotspots will be added next summer from Birmingham, Stansted and Manchester airports. The programme includes adding Sicily and Sardinia from Birmingham, Tivat in Montenegro to be available from Manchester and Athens and Rome from Stansted. To support its expansion at these three airports, there will also be additional aircrafts introduced.

The move means Birmingham will serve 52 destinations including the resumption of flights to Bourgas in Bulgaria, with 55 locations available from Manchester and 42 routes from Stansted.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “The addition of more destinations and extra capacity from three bases comes on the back of enormous demand for our award-winning flights and holidays from Birmingham, London Stansted and Manchester airports and, as always, we are quick to respond. Summer ’23 will see an additional aircraft come into our fleet at each of these bases.

"The addition of new destinations from Birmingham, London Stansted and Manchester airports really expands our offering. In addition to flying customers to their favourite holiday destinations from these bases, we continue to have a laser focus on delivering the very best experience so that customers choose us time and time again.”
