The North Tyneside tip has been closed after a fire at the site.
The Household Waste Recycling Centre, on Wallsend Road in North Shields, is to remain shut all day on Friday.
A blaze broke out at the site at around 8am on Friday. Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service sent four engines to the scene and helped to bring it under control.
North Tyneside Council says the damage is being assessed, though it is not thought to be serious, and the site will remain closed until Saturday.
The tip reopened to the public in May after lockdown restrictions were eased. Since then, residents have been asked to book an appointment before going.
Bookings were temporarily suspended after the fire but the council says appointments can now be made again as normal.
In a message sent out on social media, the authority said: "The Household Waste Recycling Centre will remain closed all today (Friday) but will be back open tomorrow (Saturday) and appointments can now be made again as normal.
