Newcastle's newest attraction has announced its opening date and is preparing for an action-packed launch.

The Junkyard Golf Club will open its doors in Newgate Street on November 24 and advance sales of tickets - which became available earlier this October - have already taken off.

The new crazy golf venue, where players can enjoy a twist on the traditional game alongside cocktails and music, will feature a weird and wonderful nine-hole course taking in bizarre settings such as a scrapyard and circus.

The city centre venue promises to be "a loud, bold and daring crazy golf experience" and is an extenstion of the successful Junkyard brand which is already established in the likes of Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, London and Oxford.

Sophie-Larissa Houghton, PR and events manager of Junkyard Golf Club, said in the run-up to the launch: “We are one step closer to opening our doors and welcoming the people of North East to party with us for crazy golf, cocktails and epic beats."

In a message to customers she added: "We also have some surprises in store so make sure you connect with us on socials as we will be running some mega competitions and sharing some big news.”

She is expecting the opening weekend in particular to be a fast-seller.

Tickets start at £8.50 - the off-peak price for Sunday to Thursday - per putter, per game and are £10 on Fridays and Saturdays.

The company has hired local staff and says there are still some roles up for grabs.
