Hello and welcome to our Newcastle United live blog on Wednesday, October 28.

The build-up to Everton has begun. Newcastle earned a point from a match where Wolves dominated for long spells but Jacob Murphy fired in a superb free-kick.

Murphy's goal capped an excellent performance from the man himself but Newcastle's display was otherwise a rearguard action as United were forced to defend for long spells.

Steve Bruce revealed beforehand that Jonjo Shelvey was facing a spell on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, there was a takeover update on Tuesday after Mike Ashley threw his backing behind a supporter's consortium who have issued a legal challenge to the Premier League over the bid process.
