Police have released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak with in connection to an assault in Preston.

A 20-year-old man was found with serious injuries at the junction with Church Street and Avenham Street, close to the Co-Op bank, around 2.40am on February 16.

The victim, from Preston, suffered bleeds on the brain, multiple cuts and facial fractures in the assault.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and surgery, where he remains in a critical condition.

Two other men, aged 19 and 20, were also attacked during the incident, suffering minor injuries.

Detectives have released images showing two men in a nearby bar shortly before the attack, who they believe can assist their investigation.

They are urging anyone who recognises these men to contact 101.

Eight men, aged between 19 and 31, from Blackburn, have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Seven, have been released under investigation.

The eighth, a 22-year-old man who was arrested yesterday, remains in police custody.
