New images from NASA's spacecraft show giant 'ear-shaped crater' on Mars

NASA has revealed a huge crater on the surface of Mars. It looks like an ear.

The US Space Agency recently released an impressive snap taken from the high-tech Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter probe that has been orbiting Mars since 2006.

Shows a 1,800-meter crater (1.1 miles), located in the Chryse Planitia in Mars' northern hemisphere.

Detailed black-and-white photographs of impact craters no doubt awed many avid space watchers, but many others were drawn to their familiar shapes. .

Due to the irregular oblong shape and deep depression to the left of the crater, a flood of comments, including the research group, likened it to the human ear.
