THE all-new DS9 is now on sale – priced from £40,615. It’s the biggest car yet from the French company and will be offered with two hybrid power options or a single petrol engine.
The most powerful of these is a 360hp petrol-electric model with a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine and four-wheel drive.
A 225hp plug-in hybrid model with front-wheel drive is also available and provides an electric-only range of up to 34 miles. The non-hybrid petrol DS9 also has 225hp and will be the entry point to the line-up.
Both the 225hp models are offered in Performance Line+ and Rivoli trims and the 360hp model will arrive later in the year.
DS Automobiles says the focus is on luxury, so all DS9s come with leather upholstery, Alcantara headlining, and heated, ventilated and massaging seats.
There’s also a 12.3in infotainment screen and a 14-speaker sound system to keep you entertained on the road.
Comfort is taken care of by DS’s active suspension system that uses cameras to scan the road and adjust the car to glide over bumps.
The car’s designers say they want the car to be as smooth as the original DS from the 1950s.
In a nod to that popular classic model, the DS9 also has “cornets” lights in the upper corners of the rear windscreen just like the first DS.
