WITH the UK stll in lockdown due to the current coronavirus pandemic, we are all very much on the lookout for something new and exciting to watch.

Enter Netflix, which is always bursting at the seams with good movies and TV shows in April 2020.

After Life (season 2)

Following on from season 1 of After Life, the new series sees Ricky Gervais' character Tony still struggling with immense grief for his wife.

Despite this, Tony tries to become a better friend to those around him as Each grapple with their own problems.

These only intensify with the looming threat of the local newspaper - where Tony is a journalist - being shut down.

Will the town’s local Am-Dram show lift everyone’s spirits?

The Vicar of Dibley (Season 1 to 3 plus specials)

At last the hit BBC 90s sitcom Vicar of Dibley is coming to Netflix.

Starring Dawn French in the leading role as the first female vicar to come to the small village of Dibley.

The show follows life as she settles into the madcap community of odd balls and eccentrics.


A hardened mercenary's mission becomes a soul-searching race to survive when he's sent into Bangladesh to rescue a drug lord's kidnapped son.

American Pie 1 and 2

The first two films in the American Pie franchise will be landing on Netflix.

In this hilarious lesson in life, love and libido, a group of friends, fed up with their well-deserved reputations as sexual no-hitters, decide to take action.

And of course who can forget THAT famous pie scene.

The Breakfast Club

Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal (Paul Gleason).

The disparate group includes rebel John (Judd Nelson), princess Claire (Molly Ringwald), outcast Allison (Ally Sheedy), brainy Brian (Anthony Michael Hall) and Andrew (Emilio Estevez), the jock.

Each has a chance to tell his or her story, making the others see them a little differently - and when the day ends, they question whether school will ever be the same.


When Nev Shulman, a New York photographer, receives a Facebook request from a child named Abby, he cannot guess the unusual odyssey on which he will soon embark.

Abby sends Nev an unusually skilled painting based on one of his photos.

Intrigued, he begins online relationships with the rest of Abby's family, including her older sister, Megan.

Though troubling inconsistencies soon emerge, Nev continues his online flirtation with Megan, resulting in a road trip to meet her in person.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick), a high school student, fakes sickness to stay at home and spends the rest of the day with his best friend and girlfriend.

Meanwhile, his dean is trying to spy on him.

The Land Before Time

An orphaned brontosaurus named Littlefoot sets off in search of the legendary Great Valley.

A land of lush vegetation where the dinosaurs can thrive and live in peace.

Along the way he meets four other young dinosaurs, each one a different species, and they encounter several obstacles as they learn to work together in order to survive.

Life on Mars (Season 1 and 2)

The BBC show tells the story of Sam Tyler (John Simm), a policeman in service with the Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

After being hit by a car in 2006, Tyler awakens in 1973 to find himself working for a predecessor of the GMP, the Manchester and Salford Police, at the same station and location as in 2006.

The Martian

When astronauts blast off from the planet Mars, they leave behind Mark Watney (Matt Damon), presumed dead after a fierce storm.

With only a meager amount of supplies, the stranded visitor must utilise his wits and spirit to find a way to survive on the hostile planet.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crew mates hatch their own plan for a daring rescue mission.

The Matrix Trilogy

The Matrix franchise hit cinemas back in 1999, with fans instantly loving the film set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans are unwittingly trapped inside a simulated reality called “The Matrix”.

Neo, played by Keanu Reeves, is part of a resistance to “unplug” people from the Matrix from the inside out, and ultimately destroy their mechanical overlords.

Created by Lana and Lily Wachowski, the first film four Academy Awards and the first sequel was an even bigger commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film in history until it was surpassed by Deadpool in 2016.
