Netflix to launch Masked Singer-style dating show where singletons hide in costumes

CAN whoever is standing with their finger on the random TV dating show format generator please step away.

After Love Is Blind, Married At First Sight and Five Guys A Week, we now have a new one — Sexy Beasts.

I’m told this off-the-wall programme will involve singletons disguising themselves as aliens and fantasy animals to find “the one”.

The 12-part-series, which is being screened on Netflix, features British and American hopefuls on a quest to find true love.

They will wine, dine and get to know potential dates while dressed as bizarre creatures, thanks to clever Hollywood-style prosthetics.

The idea is that by dating in disguise, potential lovers can fall for each other’s personality and dating skills rather than beauty and brawn before revealing their true selves.

It is based on a BBC Three dating series of the same name, which was released in 2013.

A source said: “This show offers a new take on the idea of a fantasy date. There are no Kim Kardashian lookalikes here.

"All potential lovers will attempt to find “the one” while wearing an elaborate prosthetic mask of a strange fantasy beast.

“Much like ITV’s hit The Masked Singer, the fun is in guessing who the real person is behind the mask and what they might actually look like, before the big reveal when masks are off and contestants are shown exactly who they’ve fallen for.”

If ever there was a time to work out if someone is your type while wearing a mask, surely it’s now.

Montana in the Brown stuff

WE first met her when she was coating herself in sun cream on Love Island.

Now Montana Brown seems to be smeared in something very different for Celebs On The Farm.

Memories of the luxurious villa are a distant memory as she joins a line-up of other celebrities on the MTV reality show, set among the muck and hay of the English countryside.

When the series starts this month, Montana will be helped by former EastEnders actor Shaun Williamson, Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer and Blue singer Duncan James.

I bet none of them will look quite as good in the dirt as she does, though.

Chase trio on trip to PC world

WHAT’S in a name? Well, it turns out plenty if you are a telly executive having to navigate an increasingly sensitive world.

Just ask the bosses at ITV, who mulled over what to call the new show starring brainboxes Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace from daytime quiz The Chase.

Three-part documentary The Chasers Road Trip: Trains, Brains And Automobiles started last night and continues next week.

At one point the show was called Are You Smarter Than A Monkey, A Robot Or A Child? but it was thought that could be viewed as racist.

Suggestion number two for the show, Are You Smarter Than A Chimpanzee?, was rejected for a similar reason.

So they have ended up with the current title, which doesn’t intrigue the viewer or explain what the show is.

In fact, it sees The Chasers travel the world looking at the “intelligence” of machines, children and animals, including a chimpanzee and an orangutan.

They should have asked Anne, Mark and Shaun for name suggestions as the brainy trio always seem to have the answer to everything.

CHANNEL 4 has axed Victorian comedy series Year Of The Rabbit after its first series to cut costs.

That is despite ordering a sequel for the detective show, starring Matt Berry, just under a year ago.

A spokeswoman for the channel said: “It was a result of the impact of Covid on our schedules.”

Scotty's shore in bother

BANKRUPT Geordie Shore wildman Scotty T has landed in more trouble.

He’s been hit with a ban on running a business after owing £147,000 to his failed company’s account.

The 2016 Celebrity Big Brother winner, who was declared broke in March 2019, also racked up £111,047 in missed tax payments related to “entertainment services” firm Scotty T Limited dating back to August 2015.

A December investigation found that Scotty received £177,246 in total – almost half the funds deposited in his firm’s account from February 2016 to April 2018 – “either directly or for his own benefit”.

This month the Insolvency Service disqualified him from running a company again until July 2024, while Scotty T Limited – which went under in May 2018 – will be dissolved in March.

Should have spent less time in the gym and more time with his accountant.

Jamie: I blew it with Pam

JAMIE Laing has revealed he once got Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson's phone number – but it didn’t work.

For a change, the Made In Chelsea star hadn’t got it using his best chat-up lines, but because he and Pamela share a secret passion – glass-blowing.

DRAG artist Cherry Valentine last night became the second contestant to leave RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

Cherry exited the competition after she was seen pouring her heart out on the BBC Three show about struggling to be gay while coming from a travellers’ community.

He explained: “I did a show called In Bed With Jamie for C4 a few years ago and I interviewed different people in bed. We got Pamela Anderson and she came into my bed and I interviewed her.

“Then she said, ‘Jamie, I am a glass-blower and here is my mobile number’. She is a really interesting person and she is really lovely.

“But she gave me a false number.”
