Netflix fans ‘can’t sleep’ and convinced they’re ‘being watched’ after ‘terrifying’ documentary The Social Dilemma

NETFLIX fans reckon the new documentary The Social Dilemma has left them unable to sleep after convincing them they’re being watched, calling the show “terrifying”.

The insightful documentary looks at the 'dark side of social media' and how it has impacted our lives.

It also exposes how our every move is monitored, with the synopsis reading: "This documentary-drama hybrid explores the dangerous human impact of social networking, with tech experts sounding the alarm on their own creations."

Former employees of huge tech companies including Facebook, Google, Twitter and Instagram have shared their knowledge as well as issuing some serious warnings to social media users.

It has left many viewers horrified, with many declaring on Twitter that after watching they couldn’t stop thinking about it and too scared to sleep.

One wrote: “Watching #TheSocialDilemma because I want to scare the crap out of myself before going to sleep.”

Another analysed: “Did you ever lost sleep because of something happened on Twitter. Have you skipped meal because of not so good Insta post. How many times you tried to relate with someone's WA status. That's #TheSocialDilemma is, that's how anti-social media ruined our lives”

“Watched this in early hours of this morning when I couldn’t sleep.... and then couldn’t go to sleep. Really quite terrifying,” tweeted a third.

After watching one viewer revealed their worrying findings: “There are only two industries that calls their customers 'users'. Illegal drugs and software. Wow. I can't sleep.”

It has left many viewers horrified, with one writing on Twitter: "Don't watch The Social Dilemma ... immediate anxiety I’m ready to throw the whole phone away.

"I feel scammed and like someone's watching me all the time."

Another added: "The Social Dilemma is the scariest and most amazing thing I've ever seen on Netflix."

A third agreed, writing: "You need to watch The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It’s mind blowing and honestly.. makes me feel dirty. It’ll make you rethink social media."

One said: "What I want people to know is that everything they are doing online is being watched, is being tracked.

"Every single action you take is carefully monitored and recorded."
