‘Nervous’ Prince Harry was ‘worried to meet “incensed” William’s eye’ while sitting across from him at Philip’s funeral

PRINCE Harry was "worried to meet William's eye" while sitting across from him at their grandfather's funeral, it is claimed.

The Duke of Sussex showed signs of "nervousness" not knowing where to look as he came face to face with his brother for the first time in what is believed to be more than a year.

Harry tapped his order of service anxiously against his leg as he sat alone at Prince Philip's funeral.

He "stared into the distance, seeming almost worried to meet William’s eye across the aisle", Vanity Fair reports.

Tensions are thought to be high between the feuding brothers after Harry and Meghan's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Harry, 36, also claimed William, 38, and their father Charles, 72, were "trapped" in the Royal Family in the prerecorded chat.

In the days after it aired in the UK, William was forced into the unprecedented position of saying the royals "are very much not a racist family".

The Duke of Edinburgh's funeral is thought to be the first time the brothers have met in person since January last year after Harry quit royal duties and the UK.

The pair were kept 12ft apart as they walked behind Philip’s coffin on Saturday, separated by Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips, during the procession as the Queen said a final goodbye to her husband of 73 years at Windsor Castle.

Millions watching on TV saw 'peacemaker' Kate Middleton appear to get the brothers talking again while walking away from the emotional funeral.

Television footage showed the Duke of Cambridge clutch an order of service and remove his Covid-19 mask — then allow Harry to move alongside him.

The brothers spoke to each other in a tender reunion as they walked side by side away from St George’s Chapel as Kate pulled back.

Body language expert Judi James said they looked "relaxed" in a "natural moment of unity" as they chatted outside.

And the pair are said to have reunited for two hours afterwards - sparking hopes of peace between them.

They joined dad Charles for private talks away from the cameras - and insiders say it is just what Philip would have wanted.

Harry may now stay on for the Queen’s 95th birthday on Wednesday, and he has also said he will join his older brother for the unveiling of Princess Diana’s memorial statue at Kensington Palace.

Royal insiders hope the ceremony on July 1 could also help ease the rift as they stand together on what would have been their mother's 60th birthday.

A source said: “It’s early days but you’d hope this is exactly the first step Philip would have wished for.”

Another said the brothers had been told to "put their differences aside by the Queen for the sake of the family".

They added: "William and other members of the family have some very strong feelings about some of the things Harry and Meghan said on Oprah and things need to be talked through, but this was not the occasion and everyone respected that.

"It’s going to take more than a wake to sort things out, but this is hopefully a start."

Harry rushed to the UK following Philip's death, flying in from LA last Sunday.

He joined the 29 other mourners chosen to attend the stripped back service at 3pm on Saturday.

The duke spent the run-up to the event isolating at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor grounds.

He is now desperate to return to pregnant Meghan and feels "terrible" about leaving her behind, a pal said.
