DEAR DEIDRE: BODY issues are pushing me away from my partner – and the latest diagnosis could prove the final straw.
I’ve always been on the heavier side but in this winter lockdown the weight has piled on.
I’ve started smoking heavily again too. I’m double the size I was when I met my partner two years ago. She’s 52, while I’m a man of 54.
It’s affecting our love life as I’m embarrassed to get naked with her.
Last month I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea. My snoring is so bad my partner sleeps in the spare room most nights.
Now I have to wear a mask in bed and I don’t know how she can find me attractive.

DEIDRE SAYS: Lockdown and the closure of gyms has been tough for us all, so don’t be too hard on yourself. As for sleep apnoea, you are not alone.
It will help your self-esteem to get healthy again. Try walking and cycling, daily if you can. Reducing your weight and smoking will greatly help the effects of your sleep apnoea.
Talk to your girlfriend about how you feel. I’m sure she is missing the intimacy of being with you and will want to reassure you.
