Musician Jack Savoretti is helping to raise £460,000 for brave little girl, 8, with rare bone cancer

THERE’S a reason Jack Savoretti is regarded as one of the nicest guys in music.

The singer is helping to raise £460,000 for an eight-year-old girl who suffers a rare form of bone cancer.

Anna Drysdale, from Jack’s adopted home town of Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma when she was five and is currently in remission for a second time. But the odds of the condition returning are very high.

So her parents Ian and Keeley want her to undergo a new immunotherapy treatment at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York that may prevent a recurrence. But they need to raise £460,000.

And Jack, with the help of some of his A-list pals, including singers Lewis Capaldi and Olly Murs, and actor Jamie Dornan, is spreading the word, and her #TeamAnna hashtag, to help Anna reach her target.

Jack said: “Upon meeting Anna I fell in love with this magical little girl and her amazing family. Like with any cancer there is no certainty, but this is her greatest chance of survival.

“Right now everything is dormant, she is the perfect candidate for this type of treatment. That sense of urgency is why people are getting behind this so much.”

Jack was told about her condition by his gardener, whose daughter goes to the same school as Anna.

Initially he was going to write a charity song, but with time against him, he decided to focus on increasing the awareness of Anna’s story nationally.

Jack explained: “I told her family to leave it with me. The community in Chipping Norton means so much to me and my family. They’ve changed our lives and I wanted to give something back.”

Lewis, Jamie, Olly and Radio 2 DJ Jo Wiley have all recorded a special message to Anna on Jack’s social media. Plus comedian John Bishop spread the

#TeamAnna hashtag at one of his gigs.
Jack and Anna’s family are hoping to reach the £460,000 target by Christmas and are a third of the way there.
