Mother of eight children dies at 47 - after spending years indoors to prevent people from staring into her face

A mother of eight, , described as 'glamorous and outgoing', has died at the age of 47. Her later years stopped people in her house. she is staring at her

Nicola Kilby said that she did not feel like looking at her own face in the mirror and that she was too self-conscious because her appearance had been altered by a rare disease. I didn't try to take a picture of her.

For five years, she battled an inflammatory vascular disease, a condition known as Wegener's granulomatosis (GPA) that had already begun to change her appearance before she was diagnosed. reports Birmingham Live .

It attacks her ears, nose, sinuses, kidneys, and lungs, and in Nicola's case, deafens her ears and reduces her soft palette to an extent that she cannot. Her nose was crushed to speak.

Her devoted mother and her grandmother passed away last month.

Her 25-year-old son Kieran from Sutton Coldfield , aiming to raise awareness of GPA, for his mother's funeral costs and a study of British vasculitis.

He said: ``My mother was a wonderful person. She put everyone before herself.

''She loved her children and grandchildren and welcomed everyone who came through her door like family.

"She was a very strong woman and never let her guard down, even when the worst pain imaginable struck her. I didn't want to expose myself to it."

Nicola lived in Cirencester, the Cotswolds, with her husband of ten years, Kevin.

She has eight children left to her, from the age of eight to the age of twenty-seven.

Regarding his mother's battle with his GPA, hotel employee Kieran said:

``One of the things my mother struggled with the most was the dramatic change in her appearance.

"The Cold Little things like this could seriously affect her and eventually lead to her being hospitalized.The Covid pandemic has been very difficult for her.

"Doctors Initially she said she could live for 10 years, but she was affected very quickly. It was hard because I didn't get out of the house.My mom was so worried about people staring at me.

''It was difficult for her because of the damage to her nose. No one has a photo of my mom from the last 5 years. because her mother didn't allow it. ``This time with Davina McCall, a Redditch woman with vasculitis was given a prosthetic nose.'' 117
