A young mother was shot dead in front of her while picking up her two-year-old son from daycare. 25-year-old Beverly Lambert died after being shot twice in the head by her teenager in Illinois, USA on August 4.
The Grundy County State Attorney says Corte Rice was picking up his son Jace in Morris City before shooting Beverly and stealing a car.
Police pursued the car and Cortez three hours after him, and Cortez was arrested while trying to flee on foot. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held in custody.

Her best friend, Myriah Weatherspoon, launched afundraiser to help raise funds and pay for her son's funeral expenses.

Cortez is being held on a bond of US$5 million and is scheduled for trial on August 18.
