There is large police, fire and ambulance service presence at Morecambe beach this morning.

Pictures sent to LancsLive show at least four police vehicles, an appliance for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and an ambulance from North West Ambulance Service at Battery Car Park off Marine Road West.

A helicopter from the National Police Air Service is also in attendance.

Lancashire Police said they were called to the area shortly after 8am today (October 28).

It followed reports of a 'concern for welfare' involving a female.

Officers remain at the scene and the incident is ongoing.

A police force spokesperson said: "It’s a concern for welfare. We were called at 8.06am and we remain at the scene."
