Over 115,000 Royal Mail workers to go on strike four times next month

Royal Mail workers are set to go on strike four times next month after accusing their big boss of "raising staff while they were at the food bank."

The postal worker was announced to retire on Friday 26th August, Wednesday 31st August, Thursday 8th September and Friday 9th September.

The Communication Workers Union, which represents workers at the Royal Mail Group, warned today that it would be the "biggest summer strike ever".

After the company "imposed" an employee on his 2% offer, they are demanding a "dignified and appropriate raise."

This announcement came after his 97.6% of CWU members voted to take action from his 77% turnout.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said today that there was "no basis for industrial action."

However, CWU General Secretary Dave Ward said postal workers were "brought to the brink".

"There is no doubt that postal workers are fully united in their determination to ensure that they receive the dignified and appropriate raises they deserve," he said.

"We cannot continue to live in a country where bosses make billions in profits and employees are forced to use food banks.

"Royal Mail Our members do not accept poverty pleas from the company when the boss of the company is making £758m profit and shareholders are getting £400m.

"A postal worker simply cannot accept being beaten by a greedy business leader whose standard of living has been completely depleted.

``They are tired of corporate failure being rewarded over and over again. The message is simple: there will be serious confusion until you actually get your reward."

A Royal Mail statement said, "Royal Mail will have further discussions with the CWU to see if they can harm the industry. We try to avoid giving action, but it has to be about both change and payment.

We have contingency plans in place to minimize disruption. , we are working hard to get our services back to normal as soon as possible to keep people, businesses and countries connected.

"In the meantime, we cannot send packages or letters. We encourage you to post early before these dates.”
