Heavy rain and gusts are set to hit Lancashire today with two weather warnings in place.

Forecasters predict that there will be persistent and at times heavy rain throughout today and tomorrow (Friday).

Strong wind gusts will blow around Lancashire for the first half of the day but for most, those speeds will settle down to speeds just above 20 mph during the night.

Despite the fast winds and heavy rain, temperatures remain mild for all areas - top temperatures of 15C will take up the best part of the day and some areas will see those temperatures drop down to 13C.

Blackburn

Strong chance of rain predicted to fall as dark clouds set in - the odd chance of sun appearing around 10am.

90% chance of rain is expected for the back end of the day from 3pm until midnight despite temperatures still sitting in the teens.

Highs of 14C are expected from noon onwards with lows of 13C beginning and ending the day.

A similar picture of what's been seen throughout the week- strong winds remain with gusts speeds picking up during the night, following into the morning.

Top wind speeds of 40 mph in the early hours of the morning falling ever so slightly to 39 mph in the afternoon.

Blackpool

Heavy rainfall predicated for the entire day at the seaside town with 80-90 per cent chance of precipitation for the majority of the day.

The chance of rain is still significant despite the slight reduction in wind reaching speeds half the amount as forecasted yesterday.

High speeds will reach 37 mph at midday whilst lower speeds are seen later in the night- low wind speed of 12 to 11 mph by midnight.

Temperatures still remain around 15 degrees, dropping ever so slightly at various points of the day.

Burnley

Yellow weather warning in place with persistent and at times heavy rain likely to continue through Thursday and Friday.

High chances of rain predicted for Burnley beginning around 11am and right through until midnight with 60 to 90 per cent chance of rain fall forecasted for the afternoon and night.

Temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees is expected for the most past of the day with the milder temperature causing humidity levels to rise towards the last afternoon.

Strong Southernly winds are expected blowing in with top speed of 40 and 39 mph around 11 am- low speeds are forecasted during the night and will drop down to 26 mph.

Chorley

Dark clouds will roll in from midday with a high chance of rain pushing through for the rest of the afternoon and will continue on through the night.

Stronger chances of rain are forecasted from 4pm onwards with temperatures still remaining around 14 degreed for the majority of the day- dropping down to 13 degrees by 11pm.

Wind speeds will pick up from the earliest hours of the morning and carry on until late afternoon with top speeds of 37 mph by 11am and low speeds of 24 by the evening.

Lancaster

Yellow weather warning in place with persistent and at times heavy rain likely to continue through Thursday and Friday.

Despite mild temperatures of 14 degrees sticking around for the majority of the day, heavy rains will also dominate the morning, noon and evening.

Strongest chances of rain- 90 per cent precipitation is expected from midday until midnight.

Top wind speeds of 36 and 37 mph are forecasted for the early afternoon but will soon settle as the night draws in with speeds falling down to 21 mph by night.

Preston

Rain is expected to fall from the earliest hours of 4am and will carry on for the majority of the day- stopping briefly at noon and will continue on until midnight.

Despite the heavy rainfall and dark clouds predicted to draw in, top temperatures of 15 degrees will remain for most the day, dropping ever so slightly down to 14 and 13 degrees at times.

Strong wind gusts are expected in Preston with top speeds of 35 mph remaining around midday and the early afternoon.

Towards the evening, temperatures will drop down to 14 degrees as wind speeds also settle down to lows of 11 mph.
