Mrs Trump visited France with her husband a year ago. On Saturday she retweeted a video of the commemorations which saw her with Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron. Melania wrote: “Today, on the 76th Anniversary of #DDay, we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice & we honor those who courageously served.
“I cherish my memories from last year’s visit to Omaha Beach & the Normandy American Cemetery with POTUS, Emmanuel Macron & Brigitte Macron.”
The tweet from last year said: “We must never forget the lives lost and heroic actions made by so many on D-Day in Normandy, France.”
The operation began the liberation of France from German occupation.
It was the largest seaborne invasion in history.

US forces landed on Utah and Omaha beaches.
The other three beaches: Gold, Juno and Sword were landed on by British and Canadian forces.
Some responses to Mrs Trump’s tweet were negative.

A White House Official has told CNN that Mrs Trump’s social media posts on the unrest in America following the killing of George Floyd has frustrated the West Wing.
