Melania and Donald Trump ‘slept in own bedrooms’ separately amid divorce rumours

Melania Trump was ‘tone deaf’ says Stephanie Winston Wolkoff

The Former First Lady just wanted to “go home” as Mr Trump’s time in office came to an end, sources have claimed. On Wednesday, Melania and Donald Trump left the White House before President Joe Biden was sworn in.

The couple flew to Florida as Mr Biden became the 46th US President.

Former President Donald Trump refused to attend Mr Biden’s inauguration ceremony.

He is the first President to snub a successor’s inauguration since 1869 and only the fourth President to have done so in US history.

Last week, Mr Trump also became the first US President to be impeached twice.

Sources told CNN that Melania was “not sad to be leaving” Washington.

Sources also told the network that the former First Lady had “checked out” during her final few weeks in the White House.

Melania and Donald are said to have slept in separate bedrooms for the “majority” of their time at the White House.

A source told CNN: "Donald Trump slept in his own bedroom, which was previously a study or den during other administrations.”

Reports have also suggested that Melania snubbed her White House staff who took care of her and her family during Mr Trump’s time in office.

It is claimed she did not to write her own thank-you notes to around 80 employees.

There is a long standing tradition for outgoing First Ladies to pen thank you notes to White House employees.

Although workers believed the notes were written by Melania, a member of staff is said to have actually penned the notes in her style before she signed each one, according to reports.

Before Melania left Washington with her husband to Florida, the former First Lady had not been seen in public since December 30.

On Wednesday, Melania was filmed hastily leaving the Air Force One plane to sit in a car while her husband stopped to pose for photographs.

Social media users were quick to spot what they claimed was another snub by the former First Lady.

It came amid rumours Mr and Mrs Trump will get divorced after leaving the White House.

Last year, a former aide of Mr Trump, Omarosa Manigault Newman, told the Daily Mail: “Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce."

One Instagram user jokingly reacted to the video of Melania hastily walking to the car by writing “she’s so done”.

Another social media user wrote: “Is this the way to my divorce lawyer?"

Both Mr and Mrs Trump did not attend President Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday.

But according to a CNN report, many people inside the White House heard of President Trump’s thoughts on the issue for the first time through his Twitter feed.

The former First Lady was one of those who did not know about her husband’s plans until he announced them on Twitter, according to a senior White House staffer.

Before his social media ban, Mr Trump tweeted: "To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

A source told CNN: "It's not the first time she has learned what he was doing because he tweeted it before he told her.”
