Meghan Markle has claimed she never looked up Prince Harry before meeting him – and hinted that her brief tenure as a royal was no fairytale. Speaking to Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night, the Duchess of Sussex said: ‘I went into it (the relationship with Harry) naively.
I didnt do any research about what that would mean. Ive never looked up my husband online, because everything i needed to know, he was sharing with me.
‘We thought about what we thought it might be. I didn’t fully understand what the job was – what does it mean to be a working royal? What do you do? I know he and I were very aligned in our cause-driven work.’
Meghan then told of how she tried to keep a level head as she began seeing Harry in summer 2016.
She said: ‘I didn’t romanticize any of it. I think as Americans especially, what do you know about the royals? its what you read in fairy tales. It’s easy to have an image
‘When the perception and reality are two different things, and you’re being judged on the perception but living in the reality of it
‘I didn’t grow up knowing much about the royal family. it wasn’t something that came up in conversation at home
‘A few months ago my mom even said “Did Diana do an interview?” but my mom didn’t even know that
