Meghan Markle reportedly issued Prince Harry a bombshell ultimatum before they quit the royals, saying: "Me and Archie are your family."
Meghan and Harry are finally set to officially quit the Royal Family next Tuesday, March 31 as they settle into their new, financially independent lives.
Just yesterday it was revealed the couple and their son Archie have already upped sticks in Canada and moved to the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles.
They are set to give up their “Duke and Duchess of Sussex” titles as well as their public funding, with Meghan already bagging a job narrating a Disney documentary.
But now it has emerged a senior royal source claimed Meghan reminded Harry of who is family are before they decided to call it quits.
The royal correspondent for the Daily Mail, Rebecca English – who has followed Harry for years – says the source told her Meghan forced Harry into making a decision.
She said: “Another senior royal source told me Meghan had issued her husband with a stark ultimatum: Archie and me are your family.”
Rebecca claims the source added: “Harry had been hopeful of finding a way to marry his desire for more freedom with his royal heritage, but Meghan convinced him there was no other option, she forced him to choose.
“He has spent three months convincing himself he has done the right thing.”
Despite the claim, the royal expert said that the decision to leave was very much both Harry and Meghan’s.
She added: “For while Meghan was the catalyst in Harry’s decision to walk away, this was very much his decision, too.”
The expert explains how the “spectacular fall out” between brothers William and Harry came after Harry accused his sibling of being “unsupportive” of his wife Meghan.
William apparently felt “uncomfortable” with his brother’s new “showbiz” lifestyle, and that Harry was rushing things with Meghan.
But Harry took it differently, and Meghan also apparently felt Kate Middleton was “cold” and “uninterested” in her.
A source also told the Daily Mail: “They felt that the institution only wanted to trot them out to exploit their popularity when convenient. Otherwise it wanted to constrain because it was jealous and threatened by their popularity.”
Setting the tone that Meghan and Harry apparently felt the Royal Family did not understand or support them, Harry and Meghan eventually decided to part from the royals in January this year.
They will finally depart on March 31 as they settle into the lights of Hollywood as all eyes turn to their next move.
