Danny Jones from McFly has officially signed with Cobham Football Club, a semi pro team based in Surrey.

The Star Girl singer reportedly impressed the management team when he used their grounds to train for Soccer Aid in May this year.

He joined the rest of the team and they were so pleased by his dedication and footy skills that they decided to take him on.

This means Danny is likely to feature for the club this season - but this could end up clashing with McFly's London Arena gig.

The performance will take place on 30th November as a special one off gig after nine years apart.

Danny's attendance at the football club was meant to be a favour, suggested by his rep who works in the club's backroom.

The club's manager, Sam Merison, said to SurreyLive "Danny was due to play in Soccer Aid back in May and came down to train with the squad to help prepare for it and keep fit.

"We thought he he did not look half bad at training.

"He came in with a very good attitude and good energy."

Keen to retain Danny's talent, Sam asked him "after Soccer Aid, why don’t you come back for pre-season?"

He added "He loved it and came back to play a couple of friendlies.”

Despite Danny's celeb status, and having sold 10 million records worldwide, Danny has kept a low profile and is "one of the lads".

Sam said “The lads have been brilliant with him. Everyone is aware that he has been a big deal and is on the Voice Kids. They all know he is a celebrity, but Danny gets involved, takes the stick and gets involved with all the banter.

“He is just one of the lads. He is just a down to earth, really nice guy.

"He is willing to graft, which is a big thing for me as a manager, and as a 33-year-old he is a great example for the younger lads we have in the squad."

Danny's extensive pop career may be the reason he has honed such a dedicated work ethic, as Sam says he a "determined character".

He added “Whether he has a massive part to play week in week out I am not sure, but he will have an opportunity he is a good lad. He lives in west London so it isn’t too far for him to come down.”

The band mates have been pursuing solo projects and starting families

McFly, which consists of Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd, announced their reunion date via an interview which was streamed on Instagram Live.

They had teased that they had news when they posted a clip of a blinking microphone, causing a social media storm as fans clamoured to discuss what it could mean.

The band said they had never played the O2 Arena by themselves before, and promised it would be "one big party".
