Mark Wright is on the brink of becoming a viral meme after eagle-eyed fans have spotted a similarity between the TOWIE favourite and music mogul Simon Cowell.

The 33-year-old has been bombarded with ridicule following his latest Instagram offering which saw the reality TV star sport a rather ‘questionable’ outfit according to his admirers.

In an attempt to pay tribute to his dear mother Carol on her 60th birthday, Mark took to social media to share a throwback snap of himself and his sister Jess posing alongside their mum.

“What a weekend celebrating mums 60th!!” he penned.

“Your kindness, your love and the fact that you ALWAYS put others first is what makes you so special.
Happy birthday mum. Love you always.”

Not holding back, fans flocked to tell the TV star how ridiculous his questionable ensemble looked, as several joked that he took outfit inspiration from Simon Cowell, whose signature fashion look includes an unbuttoned shirt and flared jeans.

Simon is well known for sporting an open shirt look

Meanwhile, others labelled the former TOWIE star as ‘Mark Travolta’ in reference to John Travolta’s iconic character, Danny Zuko in Grease.

“Going for the Simon Cowell look!” quipped one eagle-eyed admirer.

“God, I always knew you resembled another celebrity, but now I really see it. You’re turning into Simon Cowell. The shirt says it all” another mocked.

As the UK’s ‘rule of six’ continues to jeopardize family get-togethers across the country, fans claimed that the Wright family had ‘disrespected’ the current guidelines.

“I don’t see any social distancing going on here? And all those people in the background of the photo? It’s not really on is it?” shared one unimpressed follower.

While a second echoed: “Yeah, just because you’re a celebrity doesn’t mean you can get away with everything. How annoying!”.
