Manchester United's preparations for their opening Europa League fixture against Astana are underway.

The Reds returned to winning ways at the weekend courtesy of a Marcus Rashford penalty  and will be looking to kick off their European campaign with a win.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will address the media on Wednesday ahead of the visit of the Turkish side.

It remains to be seen whether the Norwegian will use the competition to give some valuable game time to United youngsters like Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville hopes David De Gea ‘s new contract can be the start of an upturn in his performances and believes he can win another title with the club.

The Spanish goalkeeper put pen-to-paper on a new four-year deal with United amid speculation he could be set to depart the club.

His previous deal was due to expire next summer and both Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus had shown an interest in ending his stay in the Premier League.

Adidas clause that could cost Manchester United millions this summer

Manchester United would stand to lose out on significant sponsorship revenue through Adidas should they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, by either not finishing fourth in the Premier League or failing to win the Europa League.

United signed their current kit deal with Adidas back in 2015 for £750million after switching from Nike, who had been the club’s sponsors for 13 years.

The deal between United and Adidas has been paramount in terms of being one of the club’s main sources of revenue.
