A luxury Manchester hotel that opened in November has already been named as one of the best in the world.

The Stock Exchange Hotel, which is set in the former trading floor of the Manchester Stock Exchange, has been named as one of the World's Best New Luxury Hotels in 2019, it has been revealed.

Football legends Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, along with hotelier Winston Zahra, first acquired the hotel seven years ago and have since undertaken an extensive renovation, before opening last month under the management of GG Hospitality .

The luxury hotel has 40 rooms, including signature suites and a huge top-floor residence.

The 3,500 square foot apartment is the crowning glory of the hotel , with three bedrooms and its own enormous roof terrace, plus its own private entrance and its own gym, as well as custom-built furniture, 60-inch flat screen TVs, a fully fitted kitchen, en suite bathrooms - and use of the hotel car, a Lexus RXL.

The former trading floor, with its spectacular domed ceiling, is now home to Kerridge's restaurant and bar The Bull & Bear , named after stock market terms in a nod to the building's heritage.

A spokesperson for LTI – Luxury Travel Intelligence who compiled the research, described the hotel as an 'exceptional property', saying: "Manchester has become a magnet for football fans and travellers seeking urban authenticity.

"And now, right in the heart of this vibrant city, is the new Stock Exchange Hotel, meticulously put together by two of the city's most respected football legends.

"With just 40 rooms and suites, plus a hot destination restaurant headed up by Tom Kerridge, this new property has already become Manchester's ultimate luxury bolthole."

Commenting on the news Stock Exchange co-owner, Winston Zahra said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been included as one of the World's Best New Luxury Hotels 2019 by the researchers Luxury Travel Intelligence.

"Out of all of the amazing hotels in the world, it is a true honour to be placed at number 12 and be one of four UK hotels in the list.”

The Manchester hotel came twelfth in a list of fifteen luxury hotels across the globe.

The number one spot was taken by The Nautilus in the Maldives, a hotel with 26 beach and overwater 'houses'.

Four British hotels made the list, with nearby Grantley Hall in Yorkshire scooping second place.

The Stock Exchange Hotel, which opened to the public on November 15, sits in the heart of the city centre , a short distance from Market Street , Deansgate and close to the restaurants on King Street.

Hotel rooms start from £160 per night, with a stay in The House costing around £1,750 per night depending on the length of stay.
