Former Porto manager Vitor Pereira has claimed Danilo and Joao Cancelo are two extremely similar players that provide two different solutions for Juventus.
City targeted a right sided defender in the summer to add cover for Kyle Walker and the Portuguese international was identified as the perfect target.
The both was completed on deadline day for a world-record fee for a full-back and Danilo headed the other direction to Turin.
Cancelo has been forced to be patient for his chance under Pep Guardiola while Danilo has made a great start to life at Juventus, scoring and being named man of the match during the 4-3 win against Napoli.
Pereira - who signed Danilo for Porto in 2011 - believes the two players shouldn't be compared as they are completely different players.
He told Tuttomercatoweb : "I’m not joking, Danilo is a top-quality fullback. I bought him for Porto in 2011, he was just 21 years old, but at that time, his great personality amazed me.
"We are talking about a very offensive player, a Brazilian acrobatic who can place himself both on the outside and on the inside along the right-wing.
"He is good with two feet, has an amazing technique and in recent years I have also noticed an evolution in terms of tactics, a path that – apart from injury – is definitely carrying on in Serie A.
"You cannot compare Cancelo and Danilo. They are two absolute top-level players, I know them well, and I appreciate them both.
"Let’s say that they are very different in interpreting the same role but equally valid. Two different solutions for Juventus."
