Man Utd scout spotted watching on-loan Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard in Sociedad’s win over Valencia

MANCHESTER UNITED scout Marcel Bout has been spotted taking in Martin Odegaard's latest performance.

The Real Sociedad star played the full 90 minutes of his side's 3-0 win over Valencia to go within three points of third place.

A seventh win in eight emphasised why the San Sebastian outfit are one of Europe's hottest teams and Diario Vasco pictured a number of scouts at Estadio Anoeta for the game.

One man spotted in the stands was, according to MEN, United's head of global scouting.

Bout, 57, first worked as part of Louis van Gaal's backroom staff at Old Trafford and became chief scout in October 2016.

His trip to northern Spain was reportedly centred around Norwegian ace Odegaard.

But a midfielder and forward from out-of-sorts Valencia were also on his radar.

Battling for the signing of Odegaard threatens to be a major undertaking with Sociedad only having the player on loan from Real Madrid.

An initial two-year deal was signed between the teams but the 21-year-old's impressive form has raised the prospect of Madrid seeking a recall.

In October, Odegaard stated: "My intention is to stay here for two years and I think it's important for me. I've changed teams for two years and I think that for young players, for me included, it's good to have some stability."

While the player's current club look to battle any recall option, Ajax are reportedly one ambitious side attempting to make hay with a prospective bid.
