Manchester United fans hailed Luke Shaw as the second coming of Roberto Carlos after his performance in the FA Cup win over Liverpool on Sunday.

United moved into the fifth round of the competition following an exciting 3-2 win over their rivals at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes came off the bench to score the winner from a free-kick after goals from Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford cancelled out Mohamed Salah’s brace.

The victory continued United’s record of coming from behind to win and set up a fifth-round tie against West Ham United on February 10.

Salah gave Jurgen Klopp’s side the lead when he dinked over Dean Henderson from Roberto Firmino’s through-ball, but Greenwood equalised eight minutes later with a cool finish from Rashford’s pass.

Rashford then raced in behind to beat Alisson and make it 2-1, but Liverpool fought back with Salah’s low finish from close range.

Fernandes was summoned from the bench and the Portuguese attacking midfielder struck a brilliant low free-kick to find Alisson’s bottom corner and claim the win and bragging rights.

While Fernandes will take the headlines, it was a different United player who caught the eye of fans on Twitter.

Shaw has been in fantastic form for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side of late, providing a clear attacking threat down the left-hand side while also putting in threatening crosses from corners.

It is a big change from the 25-year-old, who fell out of the side during Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho’s tenures at the club, and supporters have been delighted with his performances, comparing him to Brazil and Real Madrid legend Carlos.

Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.

United will now look to extend their unbeaten league record when they take on bottom side Sheffield United on Wednesday before travelling to London to play Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Solskjaer’s side are 13 games unbeaten in the Premier League and are two points clear of rivals Manchester City and Leicester at the top of the table.

City do have a game in hand on United, which could prove valuable, but United are currently on-course for their first Premier League title since the 2012/13 season.
