A man has been taken to hospital after he was assaulted by a group of men in Withington.
The incident prompted a big emergency response on Wilmslow Road, which was shut by police for a number of hours on Thursday (August 14) night.
A large police cordon was in place on Wilmslow Road with the junction of Burton Road.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment following the attack.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Photos from the scene showed several police cars and ambulances responding to the incident.
An air ambulance was also pictured landing nearby.
Police have launched an investigation into the assault. No arrests have been made.
Forensic teams could be seen sweeping the scene for evidence late on Thursday evening.
A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 7.50pm on Thursday 13 August 2020, police were called to reports of an assault on Wilmslow Road, Manchester.
"Officers attended and established that a man in his 40s had been assaulted by a group of men.
"The victim taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"An investigation is underway.
"No arrests have been made."
