A man in his 30s was found stabbed to death in a village street.

Police were called to Pinnocks Way in Botley, Oxford, shortly after 9pm on Sunday following the discovery of a man's body in the street.

A 33-year-old man, from Oxfordshire, has been arrested and remains in custody.

The victim has not yet been named but a Home Office pathologist was called in to carry out a post mortem examination.

The police spokesman said that it was believed to have been an isolated stabbing with no wider threat to those living in the area.

They said: "Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit has launched a murder investigation in Botley. At around 9.05pm yesterday, officers were called to Pinnocks Way to reports of a stabbing.

"Sadly, a man in his 30s, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

"A man, aged 33 years and from Oxfordshire, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at this time."
