A missing woman's boyfriend has been arrested on suspicion of murder after her body was found wrapped in a blanket two weeks after she disappeared.
LaTorra Michelle Tillman's mum reported her missing earlier this month before her body was found in a "little hangout area" near a creek in Athens, Georgia.
A major police search was launched but it took the 33-year-old's friends to find her body after trekking down to the familiar spot, reports the Union Recorder.
It is believed Ms Tillman's body could have been left there as early as the end of August.
Clemmon Jamar 'CJ' Hunt, 26, was arrested not long after police were called to the scene, following reports of a foul smell unearthing "what appeared to be a body" wrapped up.
Milledgeville Police Chief Dray Swicord said: "When they got close to that area is when they smelled the odor and found what appeared to be a body because it was wrapped up in a blanket."
Weeks before the discovery, Hunt had told officers on September 4 he would take his own life because he'd allegedly killed his partner.
Armed with a razor, the reported meth dealer tried to throw himself from the Bobby Parham Bridge at Oconee River but was talked out of it by firefighters.
Milledgeville Fire Rescue Chief William Collier said: "The man who threatened suicide told everyone there that he was going to kill himself because he had killed his girlfriend.
"It was the same man that police just arrested for supposedly having killed his girlfriend."
Chief Swicord said with the search stalling, Ms Tillman's pals searched the hangout spot on Wednesday, adding that the smell was overpowering.
"When you got to that vicinity, and when I say 50 yards, and I say 50 yards, literally, you definitely knew something was there because of the smell," he said.
Cause of death has not yet been determined.
