Manchester City look to be on the brink of hitting top gear.
A 3-0 win over Everton on Sunday was backed up by an impressive 2-1 success over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, with the team showing they can cope without star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and record signing Jack Grealish.
While the recent injury issues have opened up opportunities for the likes of Cole Palmer to play, they will do little to quell transfer speculation surrounding City ahead of the January window.
With only one natural centre-forward in the squad, City will continue to be linked with forwards, whereas those on the fringes of Guardiola's best XI will also be mentioned regarding a move away.
Here Mirror Football has rounded up the latest Man City transfer rumours.
Guardiola wants striker option
Guardiola has said that while he is happy playing without a recognised striker in his team, he would like the option of having one in his squad.
City failed in their attempts to secure Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, leaving a void in this facet of the group.
With Gabriel Jesus operating on the right flank in the main, a number of attacking midfielders have led the line.
Guardiola said he's content playing in this way, but would prefer some variety, per the Manchester Evening News.
"We don’t have tall strikers for the headers, not even when Sergio was here, but at the same time we are a team and have to play in a certain rhythm and sometimes you need players who can play in that position to help us," he said.
"But in some games we need guys who go in there, in the box. Gabriel was there from the cross by Riyad (Mahrez versus PSG), and Raz (Sterling) was there to score a goal, sometimes they arrive in the right moment. It depends on the quality of the players.
"But we cannot deny that playing with a player type like Bernardo, Cole, or other typical midfield players, we feel comfortable, we cannot deny."
Barcelona's continued interest in Sterling reported
The Catalan media have been incessant in linking Raheem Sterling with a move to Barcelona and the latest speculation comes from Radio Barcelona via Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sport Witness).
According to the report, Barcelona chief Mateu Alemany has made a recent trip to Manchester to hold talks with the England international "to see what chances" the club has at pulling off his signing.
Sterling has spoken candidly about his situation at City, suggesting he would be happy to move on if he's not getting the game time he requires. However, he's been back in the goals as of late, scoring in the wins over Everton and PSG.
Newcastle chase Zinchenko
According to the MailOnline, Newcastle United are keen on signing Oleksandr Zinchenko from City.
The Ukrainian international has been a dependable presence for Guardiola and has done a fine job at left-back in recent seasons for the team, that despite his best position being in central midfield.
However, this season the form of Joao Cancelo has left Zinchenko as the clear second choice in the position and while he performed well in central midfield in the win over PSG, when the likes of Grealish and De Bruyne are back at full fitness he will be a long way down the pecking order.
