Manchester City supporters have been left impressed by Nathan Ake following his debut for the club.
Despite a pre-season riddled with disruption and having seven players unavailable, City made the best possible start to the Premier League season with a 3-1 victory over Wolves.
It wasn't just the win that was impressive from City - the performance was one of their best in recent months, as they dominated a Wolves side who were a constant thorn in their side last season, defeating them in both encounters.
Kevin De Bruyne got the scoring underway from the penalty spot, with Phil Foden finishing off a brilliant team move to double the lead. Wolves managed to fight back into the game through Raul Jimenez but Gabriel Jesus put the result beyond doubt deep into added time with a deserved goal.
One of the standout performers was centre-back Ake, who was making his debut for the club following his £40million transfer from Bournemouth.
With Aymeric Laporte and Eric Garcia unavailable, Ake started alongside John Stones at the back and the pair made for a solid partnership, limiting Wolves to just a single shot on target - which they typically scored.
With under two weeks left of the transfer window City are still trying to bring another quality centre-back to the club, but the performance of Ake can give confidence that the Blues may be okay if they don't manage to bring one in before the October 5 deadline.
Supporters have been left impressed by Ake and have raved about his performance in the aftermath.
City will be back in action on Thursday night, and Ake could be in line with for a quick reunion with his old club, as they face Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup third round.
City's hectic start to the season will continue on Sunday, when they face Leicester City at the Etihad.
