A man has been charged after a Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal charity box was among the items stolen in an ASDA burglary.
A man forced his way into the warehouse section of an Asda store in Soho Street on Friday, November 13.
He stole 'numerous grocery items and alcohol', say police, before 'taking a Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal charity box'.
Christopher Hughes of Cornwallis Road, Wigan, has now been charged with the commercial burglary of the store, police have revealed.
In a statement, officers from Greater Manchester Police's Wigan West team said: "Christopher Hughes, of Cornwallis Road, Wigan, has been charged with commercial burglary at Asda Soho Street.
"The incident occurred on Friday, 13th November 2020, where he forced entry into a warehouse section and stole numerous grocery items and alcohol.
"The male also took a Royal British Legion poppy charity box containing money."
Mr Hughes is due to appear at Wigan Magistrates Court today (December 4).
