A man is due to appear in court after a video went viral of a parked car being flipped into the air by a digger on a farm.

Robert Mark Hooper, 57, has been reported for criminal damage and dangerous driving, but no date has yet been set for any court appearance.

Durham Police said legal proceedings were expected following the incident in Teesdale, County Durham, on June 5.

The force said an unnamed 20-year-old arrested on suspicion of assault on the same day has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Video emerged of a forked vehicle lifting a silver hatchback which appeared to be blocking a track, then tossing it aside.

Durham Police said: ‘A 57-year-old man has been reported for the offences of criminal damage and dangerous driving.

‘A court date has not yet been set.’

That man is understood to be Hooper, of Newbiggin, Teesdale.

The force continued: ‘A 20-year-old who was interviewed in relation to an assault during the same incident has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.’
