A 24-year-old who made a non-essential journey to smoke cannabis with his mates has been recalled to prison.

Callum Hogg was already wanted by the police when he was hit with a fine for breaching covid regulations after he was found with his friends smoking cannabis in South Derbyshire.

In a separate incident, Hogg, of no fixed address, but did live in Willington in South Derbyshire, at one point, was found driving a Renault Clio down a dirt track at midnight but became stuck in a ditch.

Police later found him drunk and without insurance for the car.

When asked what he had been doing out driving, he told the officers that he had come to see 'the aeroplanes'.

He was seen riding an electric scooter dangerously on a road during snowy conditions on Sunday. This was later seized making it the second e-scooter that Hogg has had taken off him by the police.

Officers from Swadlincote police safer neighbourhood team said he had been wanted on a recall to prison.

A spokesman for the team said: "You could not make it up.

"Visiting your friends to smoke cannabis is not an essential journey and covid fines have been issued.

"If you have had one E-scooter already seized from you for riding it on a road dangerously, would you really do it again in the dangerous snowy conditions on Sunday? This is now his second E-scooter seized.

"When you have driven down a dirt track at midnight and got stuck, make sure you’re not drunk and that you have insurance.

"When the officers ask you “What are you doing down here?”, don’t reply: “I have come to see the aeroplanes”.

"Unfortunately, the driver was Callum Hogg, 24, who you may have recently seen an appeal for. Hogg was wanted on a recall to prison.

"Response officers booked him a one way, first class flight to prison."
