A man has appeared in court accused of the murder of a 36-year-old man from Marple.
Ashley Jordan Glennon, 32, appeared via videolink from Ashworth Hospital at Manchester Magistrates Court this morning.
Mr Glennon, of no fixed abode, is charged the murder of Ryan Lowry, from Marple, who died after being attacked by a man with an axe on February 27 this year in Trafford.
He is also charged with burglary, two offences of criminal damage, racially aggravated harassment and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Mr Glennon spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and no pleas were entered.
Prosecutor Eileen Rogers told the court: “This is the first appearance today in relation to the serious matter.
“I ask for the matters to be sent to the Crown Court today for a hearing due to take place this morning over videolink.”
Mr Glennon was remanded into custody by Manchester JPs and his case will be heard later today at Manchester Crown Court.
