44-year-old man charged with murder after 87-year-old OAP died after being stabbed by scooter

A man has been charged with the murder of 87-year-old Thomas O'Halloran. He died Tuesday after being stabbed in his mobility scooter.

Lee He Byer, 44, has been charged with killing O'Halloran in Greenford, west London, Metropolitan Police said.

The 87-year-old man was popular and well-known in the area and regularly rode buses outside Tesco and local subway stations.

described him as a "nice" guy who "helped everyone he could" when he posted tributes online.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood, who is leading the investigation, thanked the public for their support following the incident earlier this week.

He said:

"Mr. O'Halloran's family has been updated on this development and continues to be supported by specially trained police officers.

"

O'Halloran said: Neighbor Anusha Burnett, 37, and those who knew him spoke with fervor and praise for his character.

"He's very nice and he's one of the best neighbors.

"He's very nice. , if he needs tools, he pops them in.

"He's very kind, lovable, and always up for a conversation.

”At his age he always likes to joke and is always laughing.
