A major Hull road is closed following a road traffic accident.

Holderness Road is shut northbound and there is heavy traffic due to accident at The Four In Hand pub.

The crash is affecting traffic towards Ganstead and a diversion is in place via Marfleet Lane.

Police officers and paramedics are at the scene of the accident and a woman can be seen sitting on the grass close to an ambulance.

It is not yet clear how seriously injured those involved are on when the road will re-open.

Traffic management system Inrix reads: "A165 Holderness Road Northbound closed, heavy traffic due to accident at The Four In Hand Pub.

"Affecting traffic towards Ganstead. Diversion - via Marfleet Lane."

'Two cars involved'

A witness at the scene told Hull Live: "There are two ambulances on the scene and three police vehicles, looks to be two cars involved.

"The road is open on the opposite carriageway coming into Hull."
