Lanes across parts of the M6 will be closed overnight as major repairs works commence next week.

Starting from Monday December 6, overnight lane closures are to be expected as part of a multi million pound report project.

A £3.5 million project will begin during the night to resurface large sections of the M6 along four miles of the carriageway.

National Highways is resurfacing areas between junction 19 at Knutsford and junction 20 at Lymm.

All the work will be done overnight between 10pm and 5am, to 7am at weekends, when traffic along the motorway is at its lightest.

Resurfacing will be done via lane closures in order to prioritise keeping the motorway open for drivers.

A limited number of carriageway closures will be needed at the end of the project in March.

Drivers are advised to check traffic conditions before setting out on journeys.

Live traffic information is always available at www.trafficengland.com or from National Highways’ 24-7 customer contact centre at 0300 123 5000 and updates will also be posted on social media.
