A major road is closed after a lorry containing chocolate burst into flames close to a motorway.
Emergency services were called to the huge blaze on the A556, near the M56 towards the M6, at Knutsford to reports that an HGV was on fire.
Fire crews are currently dealing with the fire but all lanes are currently closed and the driver is believed to be uninjured.
On Twitter, North West Motorway Police tweeted to say that the road was blocked just before the motorway due to the chocolate laden lorry fire.
A spokesperson said: "@HIGHWAYSNWWEST and police currently dealing with an HGV fire on the A556 near to the M56 towards the M6.
"All lanes blocked, driver safe and well, for info HGV was laden with chocolate."
A short time later they tweeted a dramatic picture of the blaze and said: "Further update, Cheshire fire on scene trying to get blaze under control.
"Will keep you updated when lanes are to be re-opened"
A spokesperson for Highways England also said: "#A556 southbound at #Mere (#A50 #Mere #OverTabley #TattonPark) is currently CLOSED due to a fire.
"Traffic Officers @CheshireRCU @NWmwaypolice & @CheshireFire are en-route.
"Please be aware that this incident is causing significant delays in both directions.
"Please plan ahead and consider alternative routes and allow plenty of extra time for your journey."
