Emergency services raced to an incident in Croydon after receiving reports of a man who was found with stab wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Scotland Yard said the man was believed to be 19. His next of kin have been informed.
A police spokesman said post-mortem examination would be carried out soon.
A crime scene in the Alpha Road area of Croydon remains in place.
Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime South command lead the investigation.
There have been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances continue.
