Liverpool host Manchester United on Sunday in one of the most eagerly-anticipated fixtures of the 2019/20 Premier League season so far.

The Reds are leading the way at the top by 14 points ahead of two-time reigning champions Manchester City, while United are already 27 points behind Jurgen Klopp's men.

Liverpool have enjoyed a remarkable run this term, winning 20 of 21 league matches and drawing the other.

That draw came against United at Old Trafford earlier this season - but when it comes to pundit predictions ahead of the return league fixture, it's widely expected not to be the same result.

It's safe to say that Liverpool are heavy favourites among three prominent pundits who share their predictions each week.

Former Arsenal star Charlie Nicholas has provided the most damning verdict on United's chances at Anfield and Liverpool fans will love what he's had to say.

"Manchester United are going there scared. For the first time in many years, you could see Liverpool giving them a proper hiding," Nicholas, who is predicting a 3-0 Liverpool win, told Sky Sports .

"What does that mean for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer? What does that mean for the young players? Marcus Rashford is carrying them.

"Man United will not want to be embarrassed, but if Liverpool score quickly and get their two full-backs bombing, it could spell trouble.

"I am not saying this is easy to do, but Liverpool have something within them right now that is saying they are not giving up the belief that they can go unbeaten. Liverpool have kept six successive clean sheets and that is telling us they have tightened up there.

"United proved me wrong at the Etihad and they may do so again - but I can only see a very comfortable Liverpool win. This is Anfield, the crowd will want blood and for Liverpool to give them more; it is one of those days where Liverpool will flex their muscles, say they will be champions, and that is what I think will materialise."

Former Liverpool star Michael Owen is also predicting the Reds to prevail on Sunday afternoon, stating that his old club should be backed with a -1 handicap.

"It is well documented that Liverpool have only dropped two points so far this season and that was in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford back in October. That stat will not be lost on Jurgen Klopp or the Reds players and supporters who will want to beat all other 19 sides en route to their first Premier League title," Owen explained in his BetVictor blog.

"United have exciting forwards, but they lack the energy and quality of Liverpool in the middle of the field and that is where I expect the game to be won. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 51 home league games – I expect them to make it 52 and counting in one of the most iconic games of the season."

Meanwhile, Liverpool great Mark Lawrenson is also backing the Reds to pull off a 2-0 victory.
